Clinical Information

To practice in a clinical setting, students must generally: 

• Have no stipulations or reinstatement orders for partner facility placement consideration* 
• Hold/practice under an active license or a Texas Board of Nursing Refresher Permit  
• Practice under the appropriate supervision of an RN with an active, unencumbered license.

*Students who have stipulations or reinstatement orders must find their own clinical site.

Before beginning the RN or LVN Nurse Refresher clinical experience, students must provide the following:

• Copy of Six-Month Temporary Refresher License/Permit or Active Unencumbered License (if seeking endorsement and current license is Multistate)  
• Completed background check 
• Proof of Healthcare Provider Basic CPR certification 
• Proof of up-to-date vaccinations 
• TB skin test or required TB documentation 
• Verification of completed didactic requirements for re-licensure in Texas 
• Student Clinical Agreement 
• Professional liability insurance 
• Proof of personal medical/health insurance 
• Confidentiality Statement – Student Acknowledgement 
• Assumption of Risk and Release – Participant/Student

Professional Liability Insurance Minimum Coverage must include clinical training activities.

Once all required documents are received, the student’s packet will be sent to the clinical site for review and placement request.

The Clinical-Only Fee covers administrative and compliance-related services associated with the supervised clinical component of the RN/LVN Nurse Refresher Program. Services covered by this fee include:

• Administrative processing and program coordination
• Collection and review of required pre-clinical documentation
• Background check processing
• Misconduct Registry and employability screenings
• Clinical paperwork coordination and tracking
• Verification of Completion – Clinical Review preparation
• Submission of required completion documentation to the Texas Board of Nursing (BON)

The Clinical-Only Fee does NOT include clinical placement.

Perry & Associates Healthcare Education, LLC provides assistance to students seeking clinical placement opportunities; however, clinical placement is not guaranteed. Acceptance into a clinical site is determined solely by the facility based on staffing, onboarding capacity, facility requirements, and approval processes.

Students may be required to independently contact facilities to secure an approved supervised clinical placement.
