IV Therapy for Today (Basic)
This introductory IV therapy course prepares the student to insert a peripheral short catheter IV in the upper extremities. THIS IS NOT AN INFUSION THERAPIST COURSE. After this course, the student will be able to safely insert a peripheral IV and maintain intravenous therapy in an acute Medical/Surgical, Nursing Home, Home Health, or Physician's Office setting. Non-nurses cannot practice IV Therapy in the Nursing Home or Home Health setting. At the end of this two-part class, the student receives a certificate of completion and a competency check-off showing their mastery of peripheral IV skills.
Hybrid (1st Saturday of the Month) - The didactic (classroom) session is completed synchronously (real-time) via ZOOM, and an in-person competency skill check-off is scheduled with the instructor at our Plano, TX office.
In-Person (3rd Saturday of the Month) - The didactic (classroom) session and the competency skill check-off are scheduled with the instructor at our Plano, TX office.
Courses are subject to a minimum enrollment for classes to be held.

- PICC/Mid/Central Line Dressing Change
- TPN Administration
- Administering Blood and Blood Products (RN Only)
- Blooding Draw from advanced lines

IV Therapy for Today - Advanced Only
The IV Therapy for Today – Advanced Only Course is an intensive, skills-based program designed for Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), and Physician Assistants (PAs) practicing under the supervision of a physician. This advanced-level course is intended for clinicians who already possess foundational IV therapy knowledge and are seeking to expand their competence in advanced vascular access care and infusion therapy.
Participants will receive focused instruction and hands-on training in advanced IV procedures, emphasizing patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based best practices. Course content includes:
- PICC, Midline, and Central Line Dressing Changes
- Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Administration
- Administering Blood and Blood Products (RN Only)
- Blood Draws from Advanced Vascular Access Lines
This course is ideal for nurses and advanced practitioners working in acute care, outpatient infusion centers, long-term care, and other clinical settings where advanced IV therapy skills are required.
