This IV course is for RNs, LVNs, and MAs working under the direct supervision of an RN or MD. This introductory IV therapy course prepares the student to insert a peripheral short catheter IV in the upper extremities. THIS IS NOT AN INFUSION THERAPIST COURSE. After this course, the student will be able to safely insert a peripheral IV and maintain intravenous therapy in an acute Medical/Surgical, Nursing Home, Home Health, or Physician's Office setting. Non-nurses cannot practice IV Therapy in the Nursing Home or Home Health setting. At the end of this two-part class, the student receives a certificate of completion and a competency check-off showing their mastery of peripheral IV skills. The didactic (classroom) session is completed synchronously (real-time) via ZOOM, and an in-person competency skill check-off is scheduled with the instructor at our Plano, TX office.
